There are shadows at the Árvore

photography and cinema workshops by Casa da Imagem at Cooperativa Árvore

For the 2016/17 school year, Casa da Imagem proposes a set of Training and Artistic Workshops to be held in collaboration with the Árvore Cooperative.

Casa da Imagem works at the intersection of art and education. Its activity is based on the preservation of a Photographic Archive from which it establishes multiple connections that affirm it as a living object of contemporary experience. Through Casa da Imagem artists, teachers, researchers, educators, students, and neighbors have passed through the knowledge and practice of image’s multiple meanings.

Over the next year, Casa da Imagem will share its visions and experiences around the production of images, revealing its stories through the traditional and alternative techniques of photography and film.

Based on knowledge, research and educational work in the areas of Photography, Animation and Cinema, Casa da Imagem proposes an annual programming made up of one-off and annual workshops, oriented towards different audiences – children, youth and adults.

The program for youngsters and adults is made up of one-off workshops that promote different approaches to analogical black and white photography: initiation courses, workshops that mix different techniques (wax-mica and photography) and a cycle of alternative photography (caffenol, salted paper and albumin).

Families can celebrate Pinhole Day, a moment that will allow them to enjoy the garden and capture the magic of light images.

With the children and youth public, Casa da Imagem proposes the creation of a group of filmmakers, a longer activity that will include the participation of several trainers and guest artists to create short films.
