Fotogramas Caffenol-C
By placing objects directly on photosensitive paper and then exposing them to light, we will produce enigmatic images using a photography technique developed in the mid-19th century that does not use a camera. Opacity, transparency and translucency will be concepts covered in this workshop. The developer used is Caffenol-C.
Audience: suitable for all ages (from 5 years old). Request information

Pinhole photography
Introduction to analogue photography: a brief history of photography and the principles of image formation by light.
Using small black boxes with an opening the diameter of a needle – called pinhole or stenoptic cameras – we will create photographic images. Our backdrop will be the place where we are standing. The developer used is Caffenol-C

Photography on objects
Did you know that analogue photography can be done on different supports, even ceramics?
In this course we will experiment with the technique of analogue photography in black and white, using objects such as tiles as alternative supports for photographic printing.
Audience: adult . Request information

From the darkroom to camera reflex
The sessions will cover the basic principles of light, optics and the history of cultures: using various objects from the Casa das Imagens Museum’s ‘Optical Devices’ Collection; printing by light (cyanotype prints and photograms); capturing the photographic image: building a pinhole and taking photographs; how lenses work; framing, lighting and movement, experimenting with various cameras; developing and printing images. At the end, there will be an exhibition of the photographs taken by the participants. At the end, there will be an exhibition of the photographs taken by the participants.

Cyanotype
This workshop experiments with the technique of cyanotype, created by John Herschel in 1842, revisited by Anna Atkins, photographer and botanist, and by artists such as R. Rauschenber. The combination of various elements taken from our daily use, such as cuttings, plants, shells, glass and the body itself, contribute to the creation of new images and narrative spaces, in various shades of blue. The support for the prints can be paper or fabric (on request).
